Forming Partnerships 101

Recently a member sent me an email and asked for advice on how to form partnerships. I took to Facebook Live for our FemCity Monday Morning chats to share some insight and inspiration on the topic.

What is a partnership? I define a partnership as an agreement between two parties, two brands or two organizations. Here are some tips to help you form the strongest partnership in business and even in life.

  1. Balance is key // Be sure the partnership you seek to form is balanced in benefit for both parties involved. Often in life, partnerships flow between the mid points of 50/50. A great way to keep a partnership flowing in longevity is to ensure its balanced and perceived as such by all involved. Fluctuations between 60/40 and 40/60 may occur, but the balance in benefit is key for strength and overall fulfillment of expectations.
  2. Communication // Instill a complete comprehensive list of what each in the partnership agrees upon. Having clarity and confirmation of the details prevents any ill feelings and guarantees a route of success.
  3. Implement // do what you say and say what you will do! Create a schedule of activities and be a person of your word. By following through on commitments, the partnership will flourish and so will prosperity.
